Eagle Course Update - January

Jan 08, 2018

I would like to start my January update by wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year! And here’s to a successful and enjoyable golf season for us all in 2018!

I think it’s fair to say that Winter has arrived, December saw heavy snow around the weekend of the 10th and for those of you who missed it here are some shots highlighting how much snow we actually had.

One of the major issues with the snow, apart from shutting the course in the short term is the subsequent thaw and the amount of water it leaves behind. This coupled with further rain and freezing conditions has given us 2-3 weeks of intermittent golf. We are lucky that the Eagle course is on higher ground than the Championship course so we have been able to keep this open more during this period. We have restricted trollies and buggies during this time and it is important to remember what long term damage can be done to the course under these conditions.

This winter has seen the greens sprayed with fungicide 5 times so far, with more treatments scheduled for the early part of 2018. This is a preventative measure against disease which can affect the greens during prolonged wetter weather and we are pleased to say that currently the greens are free of disease.

We sent out the early renewal letters in early December and we have had a great response to these, so thank you to those of you who have taken advantage of this early payment incentive. With the recent course closures in mind we have decided to extend this early renewal offer until the close of business on Sunday 7th January, so if you haven’t yet paid why not come down and take advantage of this great offer. With renewal coming up at end of February if any of you have any queries regarding your membership please get in touch with me at your convenience.

Looking forward to the start of next year I have a couple of dates for your diaries.

Club AGM – Sunday 18th February

Membership Collection Weekend – Saturday & Sunday 24th/25th February

I look forward to seeing you all at the club in the coming weeks
