What to wear to a great Gatsby Theme Party

If you happen to have tickets to the hottest Christmas party night in town here at The Pavilion at Branston, you may be wondering...just what should I wear to a Great Gatsby themed night? Well, we are here to help...

While dressing to compliment the theme is not compulsory – general evening/party wear will be more than exceptable, many people like to get into the theme of the night, so here are a few ideas as to how you can get into character...

Choosing the outfit

The dresses of the 1920's were all about beautiful chiffon, silk and lace that draped effortlessly around your body. Detailing was also a huge trend such as sequins, beads, bows and fringes. A fake fur stole or jacket will finish of your look and keep you warm for your big entrance. The 1920's was all about the music and dance so don't go for a sky high heel. Go for a classic Mary Jane or T-strap – you will definitely be thankful when it comes to the dancing!

The devil is in the detail

To complete any flapper girl look, the finishing is all too important. Don't forget to accessorise your outfit with gloves, art deco inspired jewellery and don't be afraid to go with a statement piece like a necklace or earrings! A headpiece is also something that will make you stand out from the crowd. Combine a slick back hair style with a glittery headband or hair pins.

The final touches

Hair and make-up are key to pulling off the whole look. Women of the 1920's were well ahead of their time so don't be afraid to be bold. A bright red lipstick and a smokey eye were key looks and are easy to replicate. Combine this with a hair style with a glam pin curl and your look will be complete.

It's not just about the ladies... Gents should look as dapper as Gatsby himself

It's all about the slick suit, shiny shoes and the small details. When choosing your outfit go for a bow tie, cuff links and a colourful handkerchief in your top pocket, with Art Deco as your inspiration – think diagonals and geometric shapes. Your suit should be a 3-piece combined with a crisp white shirt and don't be afraid to go bold on the colour of your suit! The finishing is also important. Your shoes should be clean and very shiny and to top it off, a Trilby will make you look ganster!
